Beginning in 2021, incoming students of the Writing Academy will have the opportunity to apply for a new scholarship created in honor of mystery writer Erica Abbott (1955-2020).
The Erica Abbott Mystery Writer Scholarship has been established to provide full tuition to one student who aspires to write stories incorporating elements of mystery, suspense, and intrigue.

Author Erica Abbott epitomized the spirit of Golden Crown Literary Society. A five-time Goldie finalist in Mystery/Thriller and Romance, she was a fixture at GCLS conferences from 2013 to 2019, beloved for her kindness and charming wit, and for her determination to remain active in GCLS despite chronic health challenges.
Erica’s dedication to the organization and its mission were marked by continual service as a Goldie Awards judge and a mentor to Writing Academy participants. The Erica Abbott Mystery Writer Scholarship honors Erica’s memory.
Applicants must first be accepted to the Writing Academy. A committee of three judges will review applications and select a candidate who may someday embody the spirit of GCLS.
The deadline for applications is April 1, 2021.
